Your Life is a Story
Facebook fans, as of this week, there is a new way to organize your ‘stuff’ and get it out there: Timeline. This feature is actually a new profile format that takes all the stuff you have currently on Facebook and lets you arrange it in a sequential ‘storyline’ fashion. Your life unfolds day by day, event by event and now Facebook lets you present your story in just that way. Users will find that Timeline is simple to use and fun to organize because you get to decide what is important and worth memorializing. Present all of your previously shared photos and ‘stories’ in your personal timeline where you decide what to highlight.
Keep Track of Current Interests
Timeline will also be a fun way to help your friends keep up with your more current ongoing accomplishments or interests. For example, you may want to tell friends which holiday music you are enjoying in December, but will want to showcase some of your new musical finds once January rolls around. Timeline lets you do that in a way that is simple for your friends to follow. Or maybe you are preparing for a marathon or triathlon….have fun chronicling your miles on the bike, in the water or on the pavement. You pick which moments are important in your story...

10 Recent Changes to Improve Google Search
Google is constantly upgrading and improving the processes which drive their algorithms, evaluations and search rankings so that Google Search can continue to be the search engine of choice. Within the space of a single year, Google may make hundreds of changes in order to provide the best search results. Google recently released a list of just 10 changes to let customers get a peek into how the company is refining their methods.
1. Get What you Want in the Language you Understand Best
*Queries in languages with limited Web content will now get translated responses
There is an amazing amount of information on the Web, but it isn’t readily available in every single language. Some languages (eg. Afrikaans, Swahili, Icelandic, Welsh) have precious little Web content representation. Consider Hindi – a language spoken by millions yet only one percent of Web content is available in Hindi. Google search wants to help eliminate the barriers language can cause when it comes to searching Web results. Now, when a user types in a query using a language that has limited Web content, the search will provide relevant English pages translated into the query language. This is a gold mine for marketers who bumped up against the language barrier when seeking to reach into limited language markets...

If you’ve already experienced the success that Google AdWords and Cost-Per-Click can provide, you might want to check out the next innovation from the Internet giant. Within the coming weeks, companies in the U.S. and the UK will be introduced to a new concept: bidding for live phone calls as well as bidding for clicks. To earn this opportunity, companies need to provide Google search ads on PCs and tablets. If your company is one that views live calls as a good source for leads, you may be ready to pay the high total cost for these calls.
The reason for a new system with new a new approach? The more your ads stand out, the more likely you are to pay a higher price (up to $5) for calls, or clicks. The more time you have to invest in advertising, the greater the outcome. The goal here is to ensure your ads grab attention in an oversaturated market so you can generate optimal income levels with the least amount of work. Who wouldn’t want to jump on board?..

Everyone understands the importance of streamlining. The old phrase ‘jack of all trades and master of none’ should never be true of a business that intends to succeed. Still, many have begun to feel a little unsteady given the wave of Google products which have been led to the chopping block in recent months. Forums are filled with questions about whether or not Google is a reliable place to store data given the fear that hardly any location within its purview seems safe long-term. Let’s take a look at just a few of the most recent products to be axed.
Code Search – scheduled to close by January 15, 2012
Admittedly a niche search tool, code search was created to aid in searches for open source code across the Web. Code Search API will also feel the blade in January.
Google Buzz and Buzz API – will shut down any time over the coming weeks
Similar to Google Wave, which involuntarily gave up the ghost in 2010 after just one year, Google Buzz is another social service to get the pink slip. Google Buzz was introduced in 2010 (on the heels of Wave) as an application that went hand-in-glove with the Gmail email service. Google Buzz allowed its users to share videos, photos and updates with their friends. It enjoyed a quick surge of popularity and then died in the water...
