A distinguished group of Thoracic surgeons wanted to create an online non-profit platform for their members to stay updated about meetings and topics discussed at meetings. Also the group wanted to increase the member base of their club and grow its exposure in the field. The group also needed an online system where all schedules would be displayed along with ability to become a member.
The concept for the design and development of this project was very straight to the point and concise. We needed to create an attractive and user friendly website that had certain dynamic and static features as well as a membership area. We used ASP.NET, Java script, CSS, and MSSQL to create the platform architecture. The front-end functions of the site were included static pages displaying information regarding history of the group, committee, and the club’s constitution. The dynamic sections were the ones designed to show future meetings, meeting archive and photographs of meetings. We created the ability for users to become member of NYGTSC through an online payment option using the Authorise.net payment gateway that accepts credit cards. Through the administration section we allowed for the management of members, transactions, meetings and subscription amount.
Some of the immediate effects of the site design the Club started to have a noticeable increase in the number of members. The meetings received positive responses and reviews from those joining. The easy to use administration section for managing meetings, and archiving the photos allowed for a very hassle free and enjoyable experience for the club organizers.
